Horses run free across the open field,
galloping between the railings.
Jumping the fences that dictate the route
and distance of the afforded freedom.
Those that unseat the riders care not
for which way they turn.
Uninterested in the rules of the race
and the expectations of the crowd.
Some even go in the opposite direction,
because they can, because they want to.
Fun and games until the stable lad
reigns them in and ushers them back to the paddock.
